Compassion involves attempting to understand another in need as well as an inclination to help and support the needy other (Sprecher & Fehr, 2005). It can also refer to more encompassing and enduring feelings for all humanity. Compassion includes related concepts like caregiving, selflessness, and altruism (Berscheid, 2010).
- Today, even though I had a lot on my mind I was able to think about other people’s problems.
- In the past seven days, I felt bad for someone who got his or her feelings hurt.
- In the past seven days, I tried to include someone in a group activity who are usually excluded.
